MONTREAL | CAL & CHRISSY KRAHN | MISSION CANADA (PAOC WORKERS)
During Spring Break 2025 we had 4 students and 2 staff go serve alongside Cal and Chrissy in Montreal. We had opportunities to engage in both service projects and culture experiences.
Serving Opportunities
Welcome Hall Mission | A few of our afternoons were spent sorting food at the local food bank. The students also took turns helping serve clients in the market.
Evangel Church | Sunday morning we helped in the kids’ program at church, with the students perform a skit to highlight that weeks lesson. As well, we got to help in the different small group sets to discuss that day’s lesson. Wednesday evening we were able to run games and share a devotional at youth group. The students did an amazing job connecting with the local students as they arrived, playing games and making small talk. Then they ran some ice breaker games where we were all able to get to know one another better. We then closed out the evening with Mrs. Keber sharing a devotional on Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane.
On top of those two primary areas of service we were also able to: bake cookies for a local shelter and spend a couple hours intentionally walking around the church neighbourhood to truly see the people that spend their time in this space.
Sightseeing
Throughout our time in Montreal we were able to spend time taking in the local culture and enjoying delicious food. Some of the places we were able to see — St. Joseph’s Oratory, Mt. Royal, Underground City, Notre Dame Basilica – Aura Light Show, Old Quebec City, The Plains of Abraham, Cabane Panache – a maple syrup festival.
