What we Believe

The Bible

The Bible is a collection of 66 books, written over a period of nearly 2000 years. The Bible's grand subject is Jesus (Luke 24:27) and the Bible inherently and authoritatively points us towards Him (John 5:39-47). The Bible climaxes with God 'entering our story' (John 1:14) to set us free from death and sin (John 3:14-17) by replacing religion with relationship in Jesus (John 14:5-7,2 Corinthians 3:5-14). The Bible provides us with the best view of the historical Jesus (2 Peter 1:16-18), and is absolutely trustworthy for matters of teaching, correcting and training us as God's people, and for making us wise for salvation through Jesus. (2 Timothy 3:15-16Hebrews 4:12).

God

There is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4 & Mark 12:29) whom is revealed as three persons: Father, Son (John 1:1-2John 14:1,7,9) and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:2John 14:26). God's love is eternal (Psalm 118) because God is the very essence of love (1 John 4:8).

Jesus

Jesus is 'God with us' (Matthew 16:15-16Luke 3:22) and is from God (John 1:14 & John 8:47). Jesus calls broken people into wholeness and restoration (Luke 7:47Luke 19:10). We believe in His deity, His humanity and virgin birth (Matthew 1:23); His sinless life (1 Peter 1:19), His miracles, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to God the Father (John 3:13John 20:17), and His eventual physical return (I Thessalonians 4:16&18). We choose to follow Jesus as Lord by giving him full authority over our lives (Matthew 28:18). We allow Jesus alone, though the example he sets in scripture, and through the work of the Holy Spirit, to direct and mold us into people of character, discipline, peace and grace (John 5:152 Corinthians 10:5John 17:26). We believe that Jesus is the embodiment of truth and eternal life (John 6:68-69John 14:6Acts 4:12) and to those who believe in him, he offers eternal life (John 3:15Romans 6:23).

Now Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. John 20:30-31

Jesus says "Follow Me"

John 10:27John 12:26John 21:22Matthew 4:19Matthew 8:22Matthew 10:38Matthew 16:24,Matthew 19:21Mark 2:14Mark 10:21Luke 18:18-22

We believe that all believers are united under Jesus as a part of God's eternal family (1 Corinthians 12), but God is constantly and tirelessly working in the lives of all people that they might also believe, and receive life through Jesus. (John 1:6-7, John 12:32, 1 Timothy 2:1-10, Acts 2:38, Acts 5:32, Acts 19:2)
